The video shown today got me thinking. What a powerful tool self-teaching is! The retention of material when students find it themselves is quite extraordinary. But it's the collaboration that gets them there. If only I could get those tables in my classroom instead of desks.
Today we worked with Wikispaces. This could be a very interesting tool to use in class in order to get the collaboration that I would like to see. I like that the students can interact and you can create different groups. This allows differentiation which is very important. I will have to experiment with it more so that I can use it effectively.
I also like the idea of using Wordle as a learning tool. It can be more than a way to make a pretty picture. The idea of asking a question and recording responses and comparing them is really neat.
My head is spinning a bit today trying to think about all the different applications of the tools we have learned.
