Reflection - July 5

The video that Jean started the class with had me totally amazed. It's incredible to think that that kind of collaboration could occur. As a teacher, to think that we could communicate with a class halfway around the world, is amazing to me. However, as it stands in the present, tools like TitanPad and GoogleDocs are interesting to consider. If an email address is needed, it limits how I can use it because elementary students do not have email addresses or if they do, parents, for the most part, do not want them shared around.
I see some uses for TitanPad in terms of story-writing. It could be used very effectively to pair a higher and lower student to write a story together because sometimes a lower student has great ideas but has trouble getting them into sentences so the higher student would be able to help with that. I would also be excited to use it to perhaps work with another class in a different part of the country. Creating the GoogleDoc presentation with Connie and Brandee was really neat too. Making a PowerPoint right in there is a really great tool and a way to keep all students in the group engaged. Possibilities...
